Hurricane Fiona made landfall in the eastern Dominican Republic early Monday morning

Hurricane Fiona has made a second landfall in the Dominican Republic near Boca de Yuma, as nearly 90% of Puerto Rico remains in blackout.

🌀 After making landfall along the extreme southwestern coast of Puerto Rico on Sunday afternoon, bringing catastrophic flooding and leaving the entire island without power, Hurricane Fiona made a second landfall about 12 hours later in the eastern Dominican Republic early Monday morning.

⚠️ Around 90% of Puerto Rico remains without power from Hurricane Fiona as catastrophic flash flooding continues with some locations totaling over 2 feet of rainfall.
It is expected to bring torrential rains and mudslides across Puerto Rico and The Dominican Republic also in the next few hours.

➡️ Fiona is forecast to strengthen after moving away from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Hurricane conditions are expected in the Turks and Caicos on Tuesday and tropical storm conditions are expected in the southeastern Bahamas by late Monday or early Tuesday.
