Severe Tropical Storm Florita

Severe Tropical Storm Florita is forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of Leizhou Peninsula (Southern China) on Thursday afternoon with estimated wind speeds of 110 km/hr.

Severe Tropical Storm Florita (Ma-on), the Philippines’ sixth tropical cyclone for 2022, lashed parts of Luzon with torrential rain and strong winds.
Northern Luzon bore the brunt of the severe tropical storm, which made landfall in the province of Isabela on Tuesday, August 23, then went on to cross Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte on the same day.
Florita also enhanced the southwest monsoon, which dumped rain in several areas in Luzon and the Visayas.

It is expected to move generally west-northwestward over the West Philippine Sea towards the southern portion of China, where it is forecast to make landfall tomorrow early afternoon.
Several areas will experience gusts reaching strong breeze to gale-force strength in the next 24 hours.
Possible landfall over Zhanjiang City (Leizhou Peninsula), about 268 km SW of Hong Kong, China.
