A new strong heat wave, the second after the historic one in July 2023, is on the way over most of Europe and will break records in lots of countries.
🔥 By the next weekend Spain, France, Benelux, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and other countries of eastern Europe are expected to see high temperatures 10 to 15°C above normal and could again exceed 45°C in Spain, France and Italy, 40°C in Germany, 35°C in Poland and Switzerland.
The extreme heat will peak between the next weekend and early the following week.
A large stretch of Europe will be affected by the upcoming heat wave, with the risk of wildfires accompanying the spiking temperatures.
According to the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS) managed by the Copernicus Emergency Management Service, the Fire Danger Forecast during the peak days of the heat wave will reach ‘Very extreme danger’ values in France and Spain.
